Work on this enterprise site was particularly rewarding, showing year-over-year increases in search traffic and average visibility of 43% (several popular pages saw 88% growth). Working with product and engineering teams over a 6 month period to build an improved content-based hierarchy and taxonomy to replace search-based categorization. Internal linking for relevancy replaced complex URL parameters and gave the site a comprehensible structure. Maintaining URL’s for several important pages avoided losses in search traffic and allowed the site to avoid complex redirect rules. When many sites experience sharp declines in search traffic with relaunches, the experience was instead significant growth.
