Google took the opportunity to highlight their own technology and products this year as the Google Zeitgeist video shows via Google products – gmail, Google News, Google Instant, YouTube and others what we searched most frequently in 2010 by prominently featuring each in the 2010 Zeitgeist Video below.
I’d like to see a way to see that most popular searches breakdown by industries OTHER THAN entertainment and sports. Google did break down the lists by additional categories of “Humanitarian Aid” and “Health”, “Consumer Electronics” and “Mobile Technology” – but I’d love to see “internet” related searches and a way to look at groupings of terms of my own choice – from Google. A lot to ask, I know – but imagine how useful that would be by industry for SEO’s.
You can search individual terms, but not groups of them – Well there is Google Squared – but that doesn’t see quite ready for prime time.
Google’s lists are below – you can see them at Google too. As usual, they are illustrative of what the world cares most about and are disappointing unless your site targets keywords like Justin Bieber or World Cup player names. But that’s what the world cares about.
